Her writing on the page, like in her 2017 memoir Priestdaddy, can often feel like an expanded application of those sensibilities-her debut novel No One Is Talking About This, which is written in short bursts that mimic the frenetic pace of the internet, even moreso. I’m familiar with Miette from Twitter, as I am with Lockwood, an author and poet whose online presence is wonderfully bizarre and joyfully perverse. “He's like, ‘Oh, that's the pig.’ It's too soft to be a woman.”įor the first minute of our conversation, Lockwood unsuccessfully tries to coax her beautiful cat Miette into the Zoom screen. “Sometimes in bed, he'll put his arms around me and he'll touch something,” she says. Lockwood’s husband, she theorizes, has begun to grow jealous of the pig. Patricia Lockwood is propped up in bed, a pink plush pig nonchalantly situated beside her.
